Splatter Patterns - Learning about force, acceleration and distance

This past week in Flash, Bang Science we learned how objects dropped from a greater height speed up as they fall to the ground. This is commonly called acceleration. The reason for this of course is gravity pulling the objects toward the ground. To illustrate this we dropped water balloons full of paint from the top of a ladder. It was great fun! The greater the height you dropped them from the larger the splatter pattern. So much great learning was happening. I love enriching kids understanding of STEM through play. It is the best way to get through to them.
